The Multify panel, on every page

The panel is where you talk to Multify about the page in front of you. It opens on the right side of any website, can read what you're looking at, and keeps your stash one click away.

Open the panel

Click the Multify M in your toolbar, or press Alt+X (Option+X on a Mac). Press it again to close the panel. If you don't see the M, pin it first: puzzle piece at the top right of the browser, then the pin next to Multify.

1 The Stash | Chat switch, then new chat, open on the web, history, your profile and the menu. 2 The page you're on, attached as a chip while page context is on. 3 The message box: model picker, Live share and Share on the left; prompt templates, MCP servers, attach files, Improve prompt and Send on the right.

To change a shortcut, open chrome://extensions/shortcuts in Chrome. In Firefox, go to the Add-ons page, click the gear and choose Manage Extension Shortcuts.

Inside the page, or in Chrome's side panel

By default the panel opens inside the page you're on, docked on the right. Each tab gets its own panel, and this is the version that can work on the page for you with Page Agent.

If you'd rather have one panel that stays put while you switch tabs, turn on Settings → Use sidepanel. That moves Multify into Chrome's built-in side panel. You can still chat about the page you're on, but Page Agent only works in the in-page panel.

Some pages don't allow extensions inside them: the browser's own settings pages, the extension stores, and PDFs. On those, Multify opens in Chrome's side panel instead.

Left: the panel inside the page, one per tab, the default. Right: Use sidepanel moves Multify into Chrome's own side panel, which stays put while you switch tabs.

Minimize it to a button

Click Minimize at the top of the panel and it shrinks to a round M button on the page. Click the button, or press Alt+X, to bring the panel back. Drag the button to any corner and it stays there on every site. You can also set its size and corner under Settings → Minimized button.

Minimized, the panel waits as a round M button. Click it or press Alt+X to bring the panel back. Drag it to any corner and it stays there on every site.

Find your way around

The switch at the top flips between your Stash and Chat. The first time you open the panel it shows your stash. After that it opens on whichever half you used last.

Next to the switch you'll find buttons for a new chat, opening this chat in full on the web, your chat history, your public profile, and the menu.

The menu

  • Stash and Chat: the two halves of the panel.
  • Import/Sync: bring in browser bookmarks, X bookmarks, or a stash file. See Stash.
  • Connectors: connect Gmail, your calendar, Notion, Slack and other apps (below).
  • More tools: Tasks, Pages, Projects, Runbooks, Files and Computer open on the Multify website. Capture works right in the panel (below).
  • Settings and About.

Chat about the page you're on

Above the message box you'll see the title of the page you're on. While it says page context on, Multify can read that tab the way you see it, including pages you're signed in to, like your CRM, an order history or a shared doc. Ask about what's on screen and it answers from the page itself.

Click the page title to turn page context off when your question has nothing to do with the page. The bookmark next to it saves the page to your stash.

What Multify never reads It never reads what you've typed into a form field, and it skips password and card fields entirely. It can't read the browser's own pages, the extension stores, or PDFs open in the browser's viewer.

Mention your stuff with @

Type @ in the message box to pull in something you already have: a task, a runbook, a page, a file, a GitHub repo, or a stash item. Multify reads it along with your message.

Try itCompare this pricing page with @Q3 vendor notes and tell me what changed.

The buttons around the message box

  • Choose model: the provider icon. Pick which AI model answers. See AI models & credit.
  • Attach files: the paperclip. Up to 10 files, each 20 MB or smaller.
  • Improve prompt: rewrites your message so it's clearer before you send it. Undo improve puts your words back.
  • Prompt templates: save a message you send often and reuse it.
  • MCP servers: see the MCP servers you've connected and the tools each one offers.
  • Share this conversation: send someone a link to the whole chat. Live share lets them follow along and join in while it happens.

What you can do with a reply

Under each answer you can Create task, Save as page, Copy, or Publish it. When you're in Gmail, Use in Gmail puts the text into your draft. Multify also suggests a few follow-up questions you can click instead of typing.

Sending while Multify is still working

You don't have to wait for an answer to finish. Choose what happens in Settings → When you send while Multify is working:

  • Queue: send when it finishes. Your message waits in line, marked Queued · sends when Multify finishes. Click Send now if it can't wait.
  • Append: stop it and send now. The current answer stops and yours goes right away.

If you start something from outside the panel while it's busy, like a right-click Research this, Multify asks whether to Do it next or Stop and start this.

Close the panel, keep the answer

Answers keep running after you close the panel. When one is ready, the M in your toolbar shows a count. Open the panel again to read it.

Other ways to start a chat

Quick picker

Press Ctrl+Space (Control+Space on a Mac) on any page for a small menu: Open Multify Chat, Go to Dashboard, or Create a Task.

Ctrl+Space opens the quick picker on any page. Arrow keys move, Enter picks, Esc closes.

From the address bar

Type multify, a space, and your message in the address bar, then press Enter. The chat opens on the Multify website with your message filled in.

From Google or Bing results

On a Google or Bing results page, a round Multify button sits next to the results. Its label reads Ask Multify about this search. Click it and the panel opens with a chat about what you searched for.

From the right-click menu

Highlight text and right-click to research it, explain it, improve it or save it as a quote. Right-click a link to stash it, or a blank spot on a page to stash the whole page. Every item is on Right-click & Improve.

Turn an image into a prompt

Right-click any image and choose Generate reverse prompt with Multify. Multify writes a prompt that would produce a similar image, and you can copy it, use it in chat, save it as a page, or generate a new image from it. Details on Right-click & Improve.

Capture a screenshot

Open the menu, then More tools → Capture, and click Capture visible tab. Multify takes a screenshot of what's on screen (it hides itself for the shot), saves it to your Files, and gives you a share link. Click Copy to send the link to someone, or Discuss in chat to ask about the screenshot.

Connect your apps

Open the menu and choose Connectors. The Apps tab lists popular apps such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Notion, Slack, HubSpot, Salesforce and GitHub, with the ones you've already connected marked Connected. Connecting finishes on the Multify website in a new tab.

The MCP tab lists the MCP servers you've added. If one stops working, it's marked with Fix this so you can reconnect it. To add one, see Connect MCP servers.

Once an app is connected, mention it in chat or in Doubleslash and Multify uses it to answer.

In Gmail

In Gmail the panel knows which email you're reading. Click the M on an open conversation to ask about it, or rest your pointer on someone's address to look them up. Everything Multify does in Gmail is on the Gmail page, and writing in place with \\ is on Doubleslash.

Settings

Open the menu and choose Settings. The cards come in this order. Each drawing shows the card as it looks on a fresh install, with the switches at their defaults.

Look

Eight Looks, each a set of colors and type. Multify Light is the default, and it has a dark twin you flip to with the sun and moon switch. Whatever you pick follows your account to the new tab, your stash and the web app. All eight are on Looks.

Use sidepanel

Chrome only. Leave it off to keep the panel inside each tab, which is what Page Agent needs. Turn it on if you want one panel that stays open while you move between tabs. Firefox has no side panel, so this card doesn't appear there.

Multify new tab

On by default in Chrome and Edge. Switch it off to get your browser's own new tab back; the rest of Multify keeps working. What the new tab shows is on New tab.

Spot coupon chances at checkout

With this on, a bar appears at the bottom of checkout pages offering to find codes. Multify searches the web for them; you type the code in yourself. Turn it off if you'd rather not see the bar anywhere, or use Don't show on this site on the bar itself. Details on Right-click & Improve.

People Research

This is the hover card in Gmail. What to ask is the question Multify runs when you click Research this person; edit it to fit your work (say, "and whether they've bought from us before"), keeping {person} in the sentence. More on Gmail.

Email

Controls the round button that slides in when you open a conversation. Hide after is how long it stays (3 to 10 seconds, or until you close it); the ring around the button counts it down and pauses while your pointer is on it. Ring color changes the ring and the count badge. Amber is the default because it shows on most pages. See Gmail.

Doubleslash

Two switches: one for Gmail, one for text boxes on other websites. The list under them holds the sites where you chose Turn off on this site after typing \\; remove one to turn it back on there, or add a site by name. Everything the picker can do is on Doubleslash.

Page Agent

Everything Page Agent remembers about you lives here. Form details are the values it fills into forms (never passwords, card numbers or ID numbers). Always approved websites are the sites you told it not to ask about again; remove one to make it ask next time. Page watches lists the pages it checks for you. Custom instructions apply every time it acts, and naming a site in a line makes that line about that site. The two switches are off by default; turning on the first means you accept a disclaimer. Full guide on Page Agent.

Outside agents

This card is for an AI you already use, like Claude or ChatGPT, working in this browser. Nothing happens until you turn on Let outside agents drive this browser. Browser name is how the agent picks this browser when you have more than one. Close tabs agents opened tidies up after it. The line under the name says where this browser's on or off came from: this browser, or the account default you can set for every browser under Settings → Outside agents in the web app or Stash. Setup and the approval flow are on Let your agent use your browser; how the two kinds of agent and the three settings places fit together is on Agents in your browser.

Fold long thinking

Long answers show a "Thinking…" box first. It folds after 15 seconds unless you change this to 10, 30 or 60 seconds, or Never. Folded or not, a click opens it again.

When you send while Multify is working

New installs start on Queue, so a message you type mid-answer waits its turn and you can still click Send now. Append cuts the current answer off and sends yours straight away. See sending while Multify is still working.

Minimized button

Small, medium or large, in any of the four corners. Dragging the button on a page changes the corner here too. The Gmail suggestions button uses the same corner and size.

Move your stash

Opens the export and import screen. Export everything or just some tags, for yourself or to share, and import a file someone sent you. The options are on Stash.

Phone, and the stash tab

Two smaller cards close the list. Manage on the phone row links or changes the number you text Multify from (see Text Multify). Stash Tab — hidden sites lists the sites where you hid the edge tab; remove one and the tab comes back on your next visit.

Using Firefox

Multify works the same way in Firefox, Gmail features included, with a few differences:

  • The panel always opens inside the page. There's no Use sidepanel setting.
  • On pages Firefox keeps extensions out of (its own settings pages, the Firefox Add-ons site, and PDFs), Multify opens in a small separate window instead.
  • There's no Multify new tab page. Firefox keeps its own.
  • When you sync your browser bookmarks, Firefox asks for permission in a small Multify window, because it can't show that question inside a web page.

Let your own AI use this browser

If you use Claude, ChatGPT or another AI app, you can let it open sites and work in this browser while you approve each site. See Let your agent use your browser.
