Let your agent use your browser

Your AI agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Cursor or another MCP app) can work in the browser you already use, where you're already signed in. It opens sites in a tab behind yours, reads them, fills forms and clicks through, while you get on with something else. You approve each site, and anything that pays, books or sends waits for you.

Why this helps

AI agents are good at planning work but usually can't reach the places the work happens: your supplier portal, your CRM, the county records site, a store where you have an account. Those sites need you signed in, which a server can't be and your browser already is. With browser control on, your agent uses it the same way Page Agent does, in its own tab, so you keep using yours.

Try it in ClaudeUse my Multify browser to open our supplier portal, find the open orders from this week, and make me a table of item, quantity and ship date.
Try it in CursorOpen the staging dashboard in my browser and tell me which of the three signup forms still shows the old pricing.
Try it in ChatGPTIn my browser, go to the airline site, search Houston to Denver on the 14th returning the 17th, and list the three cheapest nonstops. Don't book anything.
Your browser has to be open for this, though it can sit in the background. When a step needs your yes, the question comes to you on the page you're looking at or in the panel. Ten minutes without an answer counts as no.

Set it up

1
Connect your AI app to Multify
Add Multify to your AI app with your key. It takes a couple of minutes: see Connect your AI.
2
Install the extension and sign in
Use the same Multify account as your key. See Getting started.
3
Turn it on for this browser
Open the Multify panel, then ☰ → Settings → Outside agents, and turn on Let outside agents drive this browser. It's off until you do this, and it's set separately on each browser you use. To turn it on for every browser at once, use the account default in the web app or Stash (see below).
4
Name the browser (optional)
Each browser gets a two-word name like harbor-otter. Change it under Browser name to something you'll recognize, like work laptop (saved as work-laptop). If you have more than one browser turned on, tell your agent which one to use by name. Otherwise it uses the one you used most recently.
The whole card lives under ☰ → Settings → Outside agents in the panel. The first switch is the one that turns browser control on for this browser. The lines under the name say what your agent sees about this machine and where the on or off came from.

Your browser usually shows up for your agent within a second or two.

Turn it on for all your browsers

If you use Multify on several machines, you don't have to visit each one. Sign in at app.multify.co and open Settings → Outside agents, or in Stash open Settings → Outside agents. Both show the same card.

The same card in the web app's Settings and in Stash's Settings. Turn on for all my browsers is the account default. Under it, every browser that has checked in: its name, what outside agents see about the machine, and where its on or off came from. A name like harbor-otter is one Multify made up; rename it in the extension for the machine it runs on.
  • Turn on for all my browsers is your account default. Every signed-in browser that you haven't set individually follows it, including ones you add later. You confirm once when you turn it on. Browsers it turns on still ask before a new site and before paying, booking, agreeing, sending or deleting, unless you also turned off approval permissions on that browser.
  • The list shows every browser that has checked in, on or off. Each row has the browser's name, what your agent sees about the machine, when it was last seen, and whether it's on or off and why. The switch sets that one browser from here; Follow account default puts it back on the default.
  • A browser turned off in the extension stays off. The web app and Stash show it as "Off on that browser" with no switch. Turn it on again in the extension on that machine. The extension warns you about this before you turn it off while the default is on.

How the default and a browser's own setting combine, with the exact lines each card shows, is on Agents in your browser.

Turn off approvals from the web

Every browser in that list has its own Disable approval permissions switch under its name. It's the same switch as on the extension's Outside agents card, so you can set up a browser you're not sitting at, like a spare laptop you've set aside for your agent. You set it one browser at a time. There's no switch that covers all of them.

Because it lets an agent work without asking you in that browser, turning it on from the web takes two steps:

  1. Read the disclaimer. It's the one the extension shows, with that browser's name in it: what an agent can then do there, and that it asks you in its own chat before it pays, books, agrees, sends, uploads or deletes. Choose I understand, send my code.
  2. Enter the code. We email a 6-digit code to the address on your Multify account. Type it in and choose Turn on. The code works once, only for that browser, and runs out after 10 minutes. If it doesn't arrive, choose Send a new code.
After the disclaimer, the code from your email turns the switch on for that one browser. Until then the switch stays off, and Cancel leaves it off.
  • Turning it off is one click. No code, no questions. Your agent asks in the browser again from its next step.
  • It needs outside agents on first. On a browser that's off, the switch is greyed out with "Turn on outside agents for this browser first."
  • In the extension it's just the disclaimer. If you're at the machine, there's nothing extra to prove, so the extension's own switch doesn't ask for a code.
  • Didn't ask for a code? Ignore the email. Nothing changes without the code.
Where the code goes The email address on your Multify account. If you signed up with only a phone number, add an email address to your account first.

Approving sites

The first time your agent wants to work on a website, the Multify panel asks: "An outside agent (Multify MCP) wants to type and click on example.com, in a tab behind this one. This covers every page on that site. Allow it?"

  • Allow once covers the rest of this visit, including other pages on the site.
  • Always allow outside agents covers this site on later visits too.
  • Not now refuses, and your agent is told so.

One yes covers the whole site, so an orders or account page doesn't ask again. A different site asks separately. If you don't answer within 10 minutes, it counts as no, and your agent is told.

If the panel is closed, the question comes to you as a card at the bottom left of whatever page you're looking at, with the same choices, and you answer it right there. It follows you if you switch tabs. The toolbar M shows an amber badge too. If the panel is open, the card sits at the top of the panel instead; answering in either place clears the other.

One answer covers every page on that site. Allow once is for this visit; Always allow outside agents remembers the site on this browser.
With the panel closed, the question appears on whatever page you're looking at, and you answer it on the card. Ten minutes without an answer counts as no.

What always asks

Paying, booking, agreeing to terms, sending a message and typing a password each ask you, on any site. Before a payment or booking, the card shows the order: items, fees, total, delivery or pickup, and the card it will charge. Uploading one of your files asks too. Deleting something or changing account security asks too, even with approvals turned off (then your agent asks in its own chat). Adding something to a cart, or taking it out again, never asks.

Two questions stand between your agent and the page. The first is answered once per site; the second comes up on every sensitive step, even on a site you always allow. Always allow outside agents lists the site under Websites outside agents may drive without asking, where you can remove it.

Approval settings

On the same Outside agents card:

  • Websites outside agents may drive without asking: the sites you chose to always allow. Remove any of them here.
  • Disable approval permissions: off by default. With it on, outside agents work on any website in this browser without asking, including paying, booking, agreeing to terms, sending messages and typing passwords. You accept a short disclaimer to turn it on. From the web app or Stash, you also enter a code we email you (see Turn off approvals from the web). Only do this for a browser you've set aside for your agent.
  • Let outside agents use my saved details: off by default. With it on, your agent can fill forms with your saved Form details (name, address, phone). It never sees the values. It only learns that a detail is on file, and Multify types it into the page.
  • Close tabs agents opened: tabs your agent opened close after they've sat unused for 5 minutes, 30 minutes (the default), 1, 2, 6 or 24 hours, or never. If you switch to one of those tabs, it becomes yours and stays open.

What your agent can do

  • See which browsers are on. It checks first, and tells you if none is connected.
  • Open a site in a tab behind yours. Follow-ups about the same site stay in that tab. When a link opens a new tab, your agent can pick that up too.
  • Read the page as you'd see it, signed in: lists, prices, orders, search results. It can page through a long section to collect all of it.
  • Click, type, scroll and pick from lists, and fill up to 20 form fields in one step. Filling never submits.
  • Hover, press keys like Esc and Tab, and go back, forward or reload.
  • Look at the page to find icon buttons, colors, pictures, or something drawn on a map or seat chart. Your agent gets the answer, not the screenshot.
  • Upload one of your Files (it asks first) and download into your Files.

Your agent works on one site at a time per browser. If it asks for a second site while the first is still busy, it's told to wait.

Your agent always opens its site in a tab behind the one you're on. You keep working in front; switch to its tab any time to watch, and that tab then stays yours.

Stopping your agent

While your agent works, its tab shows a Multify is using this page · Stop pill. Press Stop and your agent is told "The person stopped Multify on this page." The tab stays open so you can see where it got to.

Multify is using this pageStop
Stop ends the task and tells your agent "The person stopped Multify on this page." The tab stays open.

Limits worth knowing

  • Your browser has to be open. Multify can't wake a closed browser or a sleeping laptop. If your browser hasn't checked in for 5 minutes, your agent sees it as not connected. Leave the browser open (it can be in the background) for the time you want your agent to work.
  • Approvals need you. When your agent reaches a new site or a sensitive step, it waits for your answer in the browser. To let it run fully unattended you'd have to turn on Disable approval permissions, which we only suggest for a browser set aside for that.
  • 20 actions per task. For a longer job, your agent asks to keep going and you approve 20 more, up to 5 times. A task ends after 10 minutes with no activity, or after an hour in all.
  • Public websites only. It won't open localhost, addresses on your own network like 192.168.x, or names that point to them.
  • Tabs in the background. Some sites stop drawing when they're not in front. If that happens, you're asked whether to show the tab.
  • Agent keys can't approve. If an agent holds its own Multify key, it still can't answer approval cards or change these settings. Only you can, in the browser or in Settings on the web.
  • No page watches. Your agent can't set up page watches. Ask Multify in the panel instead, or have your agent create a runbook.

Hand off repeat jobs to a runbook

If your agent does the same browser job every week, turn it into a runbook with browser steps. Your agent can create the runbook and its tasks for you. Browser steps run when you press Run in the extension, because that's the browser they work in. A scheduled run skips them.

Troubleshooting

My agent says no browser is connected

Check that the browser is open, that you're signed in to the extension with the same Multify account as the key in your AI app, and that Let outside agents drive this browser is on under Settings → Outside agents. If you just turned it on, give it a moment and ask again. If the account default is on but this browser was turned off in the extension, it stays off until you turn it on there; the web app and Stash list shows it as "Off on that browser".

My agent is stuck waiting

It's probably waiting for your approval. Look for the card in the Multify panel, or the card at the bottom left of the page you're on, and answer it there. Unanswered cards count as no after 10 minutes.

The page doesn't respond to clicks

Multify's clicks come from the extension, and a few sites ignore them. Your agent is told when a click changed nothing. Finish that step yourself, or ask your agent to try another way.

Tools your agent uses

You don't need to name these. They're listed for reference.
